Dash-U / StarsTeachMusic shuts down

Dear StarsTeachMusic Customer,

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that StarsTeachMusic(Dash-U) has gone out of business and has been taken offline effective August 13th at 11pm PST.

One of the main reasons for the shutdown was the change in the global economy that affected all areas of business, making it difficult for us to sustain our business to the standards we had set for operation and profitability.

Since its start back in 2006, we have refrained from public commentary of any kind and tried to remain neutral in our responses, but as STM comes to a close, we will temporarily break from the silence.

To the comments posted on YouTube and online forums regarding STM lessons:

It amazes us how so called "fans" think that their artist's lessons are not worth paying for. We can't tell you how many times we've read "nice lesson, too bad you have to pay for it". It is true that there are many free things on the Internet, but having the best musicians in the world teaching you their insights does not fall under "open source", this was not created by a group of volunteers, but by professionals. Would you expect your artist to make CD's for free? How would an artist make a living? How would the production and manufacturing be covered?

To the artists of STM:

Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude in your faith in this project. Without you it couldn't have happened. We have been touched by your talents and enthusiasm. It has been one of the highlights of our lives to have had the opportunity to get to know you, if only for a couple of hours.

To our customers:

You are why we did this. The musician, like us, that is hungry for the knowledge of these great musicians and appreciate their unique prospective of their instrument. We sincerely hope that you have benefited from our lessons.

We will continue the support of our customers for a limited time to insure that any remaining support issues are resolved.
